Dr R Bateman qualified in 1978 from Kings College Hospital in London and started practising at 'The Lindens', Orpington straight away. An early interest in orthodontics nurtured with many training courses over the years, culminated in admission to the GDC's Specialist Register in 2000. He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the European Orthodontic Society, regularly attending at their respective conferences and additionally to the American Orthodontic Conferences; this keeps him abreast of this fast moving speciality.
Dr Bateman is Vice Chairman of the LDC, Chairman of the Croydon Local Orthodontic Committee as well as Secretary of the Bromley LOC which keeps him busy outside surgery hours. Additionally he is the Orthodontic Adviser to the Richmond and Twickenham Primary Care Trust.
Dr Bateman's hobbies include playing golf, tennis and motor racing.
Dentist with special interest in Orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr D Knight qualified in 1977 from Kings College Hospital in London. He did a 6 month house job in conservation and then joined 'The Lindens', Orpington in the summer of 1978. Dr Knight has an interest in cosmetic dentistry – crowns/bridges/veneers/bleaching and more recently helps the orthodontist to fit braces to reduce waiting lists. Dr Knight is also the Secretary for the Local Dental Committee.
Dr Knight has two grown up children. His hobbies include playing hockey, golf and he attends the gym.
Dental Nurse / Practice Manager

Denise is a Dental Nurse and Practice Manager and has 15 years of experience in the dental field working for Dr Knight and Dr Bateman; she started off as a Receptionist and subsequently became a Nurse. She attends regular conferences in different locations such as Denver, Vegas, Paris, Harrogate, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bournemouth.
Denise is dedicated to providing mainly orthodontic patients with assistance during their orthodontic treatment. She enjoys meeting the children that come in with very crowded and crooked teeth and then at the end of treatment seeing such lovely confident smiles and straight teeth; it's a very rewarding job.
Denise' hobbies include spending time with her grandchildren, travelling and socializing with family and friends.
Nurse / Reception

Kerri is a Dental Nurse/Receptionist and has 12 years experience in the dental field working for Dr Knight as his nurse and Dr Bateman as his Receptionist. Kerri's duties include welcoming patients, taking phone calls, typing letters and all administration duties. She attends regular conferences at different locations such as Vegas, Paris, Harrogate and Edinburgh to enable her to keep up to date with dental technology.
Kerri's hobbies include socialising with friends, sight seeing and reading.
Reception
Maria is a part-time Receptionist having worked at the surgery for approximately four years. Her duties include welcoming patients and trying to settle their nerves, making them less anxious if necessary. She receives telephone calls, enquiries and books appointments. She performs general aspects of administration including typing letters, receiving payments and keeping the dentists on their toes! Prior to children Maria worked at Croydon Magistrates' Court assisting the Clerks of the Court.
Maria has two children and very much enjoys spending quality time with them. Her hobbies include amateur dramatics, socialising with family and friends and sight seeing.
